JOSEPHMcRAE was born out of a leap—one that defied the expected and embraced the unknown. I hold a degree in electrical engineering, a path that promised structure, security, and success. But long before I ever touched a circuit board, my first exposure to creation came from home.

My mother was the ultimate creator—not by trade, but by necessity. She made clothes for me and my siblings with intention and care, using patterns and her hands to provide what we couldn’t always afford to buy. It wasn’t a passion project—it was survival, it was love, it was grace. And in watching her, something sparked. I saw that creation could be quiet. It could be deeply personal. And it didn’t need applause to matter.

Fashion wasn’t part of the plan. But it became the path. What started as curiosity evolved into a calling. I’m self-taught—not because I had to be, but because I needed to be. I learned through trial, instinct, and obsession. This brand didn’t come from textbooks or training. It came from witnessing a woman create with precision and purpose—and realizing I could too.

My first collection—TriBeKa HAZE—wasn’t born from strategy. It was born from survival. I created it during a time when I felt disconnected from myself, my creativity, and my safe space. I had spent so much of my life living up to expectations—doing what was right, what was logical, what was secure. But inside, I was unraveling.

A friend pushed me to enter a design competition at my university. She had no idea how much I needed that push. In that moment of quiet desperation, that invitation felt like a lifeline. I didn’t have access to materials or experience—just a hunger to create. So I sourced what I could: scraps of curtains, bed sheets, old bedding, even grocery bags from the thrift store. I made fashion out of fragments. Art out of necessity.

I was creating not for applause, but for air. And in doing so, I found my voice.
TriBeKa HAZE still holds its own today—not just in design, but in truth. It marks the moment I reclaimed my right to take up space. To create boldly, even when the world made no room for it.

At JOSEPHMcRAE, our mission is clear:
…Blur the line between masculinity and femininity to create a safe space for daunting creativity and expression….”

This isn’t just a statement—it’s a promise. A call to dismantle the boxes and binaries that try to contain us, and instead build a world where fluidity is celebrated and complexity is embraced. Where identity isn’t fixed but expansive, and vulnerability is strength.

We design for those who refuse to shrink. For those who demand room to breathe, to move, to take up space—physically, emotionally, artistically. Our garments hold more than fabric; they hold intention, courage, and the freedom to be unapologetically yourself.

Here, the boundaries fall away.
Here, creativity roars.
Here, you are invited to occupy your fullest presence.

Because the greatest power is found in being seen—exactly as you are.

For so long, I didn’t feel safe to simply be. To exist fully. To show up as my authentic self without hesitation or apology. The world tried to put me in boxes—telling me how to look, how to act, how much space I could take up. And for a time, I listened.

But that wasn’t enough. I knew I needed more than just acceptance. I needed a safe space to create, to express, & to take up space unapologetically; So I built one.

JOSEPHMcRAE is that safe space—for me, and for everyone who’s ever been told they had to shrink to fit in. Here, there are no rigid rules or boundaries dictating who you are or how you show up. Here, you can move fluidly between masculinity and femininity, softness and strength, silence and roar.

This is a space that invites you to claim your fullness—literally and figuratively. To wear your truth boldly and without fear. To create and express without limits.

Because safety isn’t just a feeling—it’s a right. And at JOSEPHMcRAE, we believe everyone deserves that right.

Today, JOSEPHMcRAE is more than a brand—it’s a living, breathing declaration. A message born from struggle, resilience, and the relentless pursuit of a space where creativity and identity are free to roam.

This moment is not about past achievements or accolades—it’s about the ongoing evolution of self and community. It’s about holding the space for daring expression and honoring the courage it takes to show up fully.

JOSEPHMcRAE is a reminder: you don’t have to choose between parts of yourself. You can exist wholly—in all your contradictions, complexities, and colors.

Here, you are free to take up space—physically, emotionally, creatively.
Because the most radical act is simply to be seen.

Welcome to the experience.
Welcome to the evolution.
This is the safe space.
